Nokia Buys Symbian, Makes it Open Source


Now we have two open source mobile platforms under development, Android and Symbian. This is huge news for mobile phone owners because in few years, the majority of mobile phones will be based on open software, which are in most cases free or incredibily cheap.

  1. Dont forget that Nokia also owns Trolltech makers of Qt and now they just got Plazes.

  3. From all reports, Symbian was hell to maintain and write for.

    I'm not really sure how well this one will go, but I'm not holding my breath.
